At Finely Tuned Voice Lessons we specialize in preparing students for high school related auditions and functions: choir/chorus, stage musicals, talent shows, college auditions and more.
We have specialized in voice lessons for high school schoolers for 10+ years. Our high school students have gone on to major in voice or musical theater at New York University, Berklee, Ithaca, the University of Minnesota, and Marymount Manhattan College and some even perform professionally! We have helped prepare students for roles in various musicals to include: Guys & Dolls, Newsies, The Music Man, Hello Dolly, The Addams Family, Footloose, Big Fish, and Chicago.
Our lessons for high school students begin with a warm-up (sample warm-up linked here) where we will stretch and strengthen the student's voice through a series of vocal exercises. Following the warm-up we will work on repertoire of your choice, or something suggested by Maria. For a look at what a lesson might be like, please read our blog post.
For more advanced singers who are preparing for lead roles, solos, or college auditions, we recommend a 1-hour in person session combined with a 30-minute weekly "fine tuning" online. We use the 1-hour session to deep dive into the notes, words, rhythms and acting. We use the 30-minute session to work through any parts that gave the student difficulty in the prior lesson.
Students can expect an annual Finely Tuned Voice Lessons recital to showcase their talents and hard work!
